Tower of Lies  covers the period of time from 1978 to 1998, when Trump rose to fame and fortune.  She fills in the perhaps, most important gap between the biographies and the time beginning wth the 2016 campaign.  This is how Trump became Trump.  How the characteristics of his early days as an NY Developer to the glory days, crafted by Trump himself, in which he plays the role of successful well respected businessman. The behavior described in the book informs his antics as a pitchman and,, later,  as the President.  Much of his racism, xenohobia, and sexism was there, the only difference was that he, to some extent,  hid it.  Now he exploits it.
